Has anyone seen something like this before? I got this for Christmas. Interesting. Hops are not generally grown from seed because 1) you are never quite sure what the hops will be like as they might not resemble the parent(s) and 2) male hop plants are not desirable as we want the cones from the female plants and a nearby male will cause the female cones to develop seeds. It might be a fun little project though.

A fun project but absolutely no way to predict what you'll get and their usefulness for brewing.
Agreed. Really just creating a bigger itch to grow hops in my backyard!

Come spring time order a couple rhizomes and grow them in parallel if you really want to try growing hops.
