I've been brewing beer for a long time, and back in the day had a recurring issue with bottle bombs. I think I know my errors (using random recycled bottles, maybe infected beer, too hot storage, etc), but it was enough to move me to kegging to avoid glass shrapnel.
I'm about to do my first kombucha batch. Eventually I'll keg it too but I want to bottle it first. Is it recommended to only use glass? I'd buy some expensive swing top bottles I guess. What about old seltzer water plastic bottles? Would be easier for me to gauge carbonation and it wont' blow up.
