I recently finished a violent few days of a wheat beer blowing off into a 64 oz growler and the bucket it was in.
The growler is now 3/4 full and it has about 2 " of trube / yeast maybe in the bottom.
Since this is top fermenting, I would think this blow off collection would be rich in yeast and could be washed for a nice starter.
Anyone collect blow off and reuse the yeast from it?
I plan on also collecting from the primary when I am done. But it would seem to me that this would be a good source too.
Thanks

umm...sanitation?
I can see your point if it had been sitting out open for several days.
I would think the chances are slim of anything getting into it being closed up after the major activity is finished. I would think the yeast would be at their peak concentration and pretty much eat any other yeasts or nasties.
I could be completely wrong. That is why I asked if anyone has tried it.
