Hello everyone,

I was looking for a bazooka screen for my mash tun and since I live in Canada they end up being hard to get and expensive, so I looked at my alternatives and I thought "why not use a BIAB bag in the mash tun?"

For those that tried it, how did it turn out? Did it work well?

Thanks!

P.S. Wilserbrewer, looks like I'm gonna need one of your bags!

A bag in the cooler works fine, but if you want a bazooka screen check out ontariobeerkegs. They have 6 or 12 inch and the screens really aren't that expensive.

A bag is only a different kind of material for the filter, one that doesn't rely so heavily on the grain husks and has way more filter area so you don't have trouble getting the wort out. If you get a stuck sparge with your bazooka screen, you have to blow back to unclog it. With the bag, you just lift it up a bit to expose more filter area.
