I would first determine the area you want to grow them at, and work the ground up. Hops need full sun and well drained ground. Next get a soil test kit from your local ag extension office abc sample the soil where you plan to plant to determine the soils pH, NPK content and micro nutrient make up. Lay down any material to alter the pH or adjust NPK/micro nutrients. If you can set the poles or what ever you are going to have them run up get that done so you will give the plants the best chance in the spring. Should also order your crowns, rhizomes or rooted cuttings pretty soon as well.
