Penn State Hops Farm is an up and coming hop farm owned and operated by husband and wife Rick and Anna Geissler. Rick, a graduate of Penn State's Agricultural program, is also the proud owner of Geissler Tree Farms Inc. and the president of East Coast Erosion Control. The Geissler family has been in the tree growing industry for over 50 years, with a reputation for quality and excellence. Located in Penn Township Pennsylvania, Penn State Hops Farm proudly offers a unique experience in that we sell wet hops in 6 different varieties; Cascade, Fuggle, Liberty, Newport, Perle, and Willamette. Currently there are 1,200 plants grown in raised beds covered in plastic and fertilized to prevent weed competition and to maximize alpha oils and beta acids. Although we are in our second year of growth, the expected time frame for our crop sizes to max out is as early as 2015. Depending on crop size and demand dried/pelletized hops could become available. After purchasing our picker, this year’s crops will be ready for harvest as early as August 2014. Whether you’re looking to home brew or own and operate your own brewery, we encourage you to take a look at what Penn State Hops Farm has to offer.
