I am currently on a Scottish Heather Ale kick and wanted to know if there was any place I could order Bere malt, which is a traditional Scotch malt that is not grown in large commercial quantities. I would be willing to buy a good amount if anyone knows a vendor. Any help would be appreciated.

I would see if there is a group buy in your area where you buy direct from the distributor. Where do you live?

On some other sites I've seen mention of brewers getting their hands on bere and malting it themselves but I've never seen it available anywhere already malted. I'd think if Crisp or Fawcett doesn't have it that it might not be available commercially. Good luck, it sounds like it would make an interesting scottish ale

I live in Dayton, Ohio and my LHBS, Brewtensils, is really awesome and would stock Bere Malt if I asked-which I have before. I believe I may have to keep searching for some grain availability, as I imagine there is no Bere Malt available in ready to mash form. Thank you for your feedback! I will let you know if I find a good source for the Bere malt in the future!
