Those are cool. Do you have any more information on how you did it?

What did you buy from lowes for the inserts, etc?
 
I picked up two of these a couple of years ago and gave one to a friend.

We actually stayed in Soldotna for a few days. :) The Kenai River was really crowded though. Combat fishing isn't all its made out to be. Not sure if you know him, but Dale Spalding is who we stayed with.

I trimmed about 7" off each bat. Drilled a 1/2" hole in the bottom and then screwed in the 3/8-16 insert. Because the wood is so hard, screwing the inserts into the wood was a challenge.
