I'm just starting to get into IPAs and love Firestone Walker's Union Jack. Has anyone tried the clone kit from Austin Homebrew? Is it similar or are the hop characteristics different? I hate IPAs that leave a pine & resin mouthfeel (like a Sierra Nevada). The kit's expensive and I don't want to waste my time or money if the hops are different.

Thanks for any reviews.

No, but ...
The strength of AHS is their clones. I haven't had one that wasn't very close. Especially for hops. AHS will make a clone unavailable if a hops isn't in stock.

I tried making my own UJ clone and it wasn't very close, maybe 80% of the way there. I started with an AG recipe, converted it to extract, and had to substitute some of the hops, so no wonder it wasn't perfect. I'd love to try again with a proper recipe.
