Had this the other day tasted delightful.

I'd like to try my hand at cloning it.

According to their website:

Code:
ABOUT THE BEER
STYLE: Session India Pale Ale
BREWED SINCE: 2014
ABV: 4.6%
FERMENTATION: Ale yeast, two varieties of hops, two types of malts
COLOR: Pale Amber
EFFERVESCENCE: Generous
NOSE: Citrus, floral.
FLAVOR: Light hops, refreshing.
BITTERNESS: Medium-Low
BODY: Light, refreshing
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 40-45°F
GLASS: pint glass
AVAILABILITY: Spring/summer / 12oz (6pk and 24 bottle cases) / 1/2 keg, 1/6 keg
CELLARING: 40-45°F

So I guess the key hints are:

FERMENTATION: Ale yeast, two varieties of hops, two types of malts

And the floral citrus.

So my guess is there's pilsner grains and something else, maybe maris.. i don't know.
And citra hops. Maybe some cascade or amarillo?
I assume an ale yeast. wyeast 1056?

Thoughts? Ideas? Name calling?

My guess is they didn't dry hop. Probably just a late addition of some powerful hops. Or if they did dry hop it was a short time.

But frankly I don't know. This is not a beer style I am good at figuring out yet.

Hops sound fine actually. Marris and pilsner 50/50 sounds great.

Without having tasted it, that's not much to go on with that description. Try emailing the brewer and ask for grain types and hop types.

Southern tier only gives more info on imperial and heavier beers. Probably because it's less cost effective to produce those beers...

Looks like they like 2-row as a base... and cara-pils.

So I could see that as a grain load.

Also hey cascade!

Chinook could be a replacement for Citra here I think. Just a matter of guessing the bills and hopschedule i think.

Gonne attempt this with this recipe:

8 lbs 2-row
8 lbs cara-pils
1.50 oz Columbus
1.00 oz Cascade
1.00 oz Cascade (5 min)
2.00 oz Cascade (0 min)
2.00 oz Cascade Dry Hop

Wish me luck.

8lbs of carapils?? Hope that's a typo... you don't typically use carapils or any other dextrine malt for more than about 5% of the grain bill. I would consider subbing in some crystal as this is a "Pale Amber" beer so you may want some more color in there.

Daddy, I'm scared.

Yeah, 8oz I'm assuming?

8 ozs is PLENTY of Carspils! Go with any other type of base malt or add a couple lbs of crystal 20 or so. Maybe a lb of each? That would technically make it a 3 malt beer but...

If the abv needs to be increased then I'd go with more base malt to increase your total grain bill to 14-15#'s or so.
