Are Americans too enamored with Hops?

It's funny..every year I keep hearing this is going to be the year that craft lagers become the next big thing. But I don't see it. I do like them and will try them when I can get a good one but I notice most of those I've seen recently are hop forward IPLs. I also see many non-craft beer drinkers asking for IPAs. Maybe ordering that way because they are with me but honestly people who have never googled a beer to see what its rating is on BeerAdvocate or have even heard of Untapped are asking waiters if there is an IPA on the list.
 
i voted no. If I want a hoppy beer I buy an IPA or brew one. If I want a malty beer I buy or brew that. Hoppy beers are popular, but that doesn't mean Americans hop too much - it means Europeans don't hop enough.
