It is a "balance" type scale. A group of 3 on each side is one measurement and determines which group the lightest ball is in. Second measurement is one ball (from the lightest group) on each side to determine the lightest ball.

You get to load up the scale twice that's not an oversight

So put three balls on one side and three on the other

If the scale balances out they are six equal brothers

Discard them, and with the last of the three

Place one on one side and the another on the opposite side

If they balance out the one not yet weighed

Is the odd ball that is easy to say.

If they didn't balance out..

You know what to say.

This is one of only two scenarios.

If the first weighing of three on each side

Unbalanced the scales you know where to find

The differently weighted ball

Do not let your mind stall.
