Any issue with putting herms coil in hlt

Hi everyone Are there any issues with putting a herms coil in a pot ( as opposed to cutting holes in the sides) and running tubing out the top? Thanks
 
Thanks for the info. are you aware if there’s a “max” length not to go over to connect from mash tun to herms to not too much heat? I figure in my setup it wouldn’t be more than 5 ft each hose.
 
I would first step through a brew session and make sure all of your hoses are long enough to make all of the needed connections work.
Then, shorten them so they are just long enough - especially the run from the hex to the mlt. The lower the loss there the closer you can run the hlt to your desired mash temperature...
