My oak barrel is now emptied so I need to fill it again with something..

This time I want something really strong - 9% ABV or above and I'm going to age it in the oak barrel for at least 12 months.

I don't really want typical Russian Imperial Stout, I want the fullness and richness of it, but I'd like it to be similar to sweet stout with pretty strong chocolate/coffee flavour, creaminess, sweetness. IBUs probably around 20-40.

Anyone has a good proven recipe to share?

Thanks a million :mug:

Look for imperial porter recipes, they will have that sweetness you are after. As a general guide you want lots of malt body builders like Munich and a good amount of darker crystal. Oats will enhance silky qualities.

Still haven't done that "Imperial Porter"... Finally came up with a recipe and bought the ingredients for brewing this week.
Not sure what style this would fall into - Oatmeal Stout? Also, please let me know if something is horribly wrong in my recipe.. :D

GRIST:
Munich malt: 46.4%
Oats: 15.5%
Special B: 10.3%
CaraCrystal: 10.3%
Roasted Chocolate malt: 6.2%
Roasted Barley: 6.2%
Lactose 5.2%

OG: 1.075
FG: 1.024
ABV: 6.8%
IBU: 28 (Nugget for bittering)
US-05 or S-04 yeast (undecided yet, my garage is 65'F)

Still not sure if I should lower the FG... I kinda want it to have some sweetness but don't want to overdo it either. I'm hoping the sweetness would oppose the 12.5% roasted malts nicely
