I brewed a pretty simple blonde ale last sunday. the hydrometer originally read 1.050 and today is reading 1.008. yesterday it went from 1.010 - 1.009 the airlock is bubbling every 40 seconds or so. so I was just wondering if it would be safe to bottle this afternoon. thanks for any help.

No. You need to wait until your hydrometer is the same for about a three day span. Especially if there is still bubbling, leave it for another week.

General rule of thumb is once the hydro reading is steady for 2 or 3 days, then you're ready to bottle. If you dropped .001 or .002 since yesterday, you're probably close, but not quite there.

Sounds like its still fermenting. I would wait until you have two consecutive, stable readings. Maybe another 3-4 days.
