All-grain to Partial Mash

I searched (maybe not well enough) and couldn't find a conversion.

If someone's posted an all grain recipe and I'm just not at the point of tacking it yet, is there a way to convert it to partial mash? I'm assuming I could take the recipe to my local homebrew store and he could convert it for me but I like knowing the hows & whys rather than making someone else do the work.

replace half of the base malt with extract. for grain to LME it is grain wieght x .75 and for DME it is grain times .6

so if you have 12 pound of two row is 6 x .75 = 4.5 for LME

6 x .6 = 3.6 for DME
