Anyone use these for fermenting? Price is right if you know what I mean

They will work okay for 3.5 gallon fermentations, but trying to ferment a 5 gallon batch will be problematic. Most buckets are total capacity of about 7.5 gallons to allow for large krausen heads that are part of the fermentation.

The carboy below is a 6.5 gallon and you can see the amount of krausen is such that I needed a blow-off tube. Trying to ferment 5 gallons in a five-gallon water bottle will have you mopping the gfloor to be sure.

Now...if you're inclined to secondary your beers, they would work fine for that.
