I was looking at getting another 5 gallon glass carboy (about $28) and I noticed that they also have 5 gallon springwater bottles for sale, full of water (about $13).

I would presume that these are food grade plastics, since they contain water, but I do not know how well they will handle fermenting.

Anyone have experience using the springwater bottles?

As with plastic buckets, most 5 gallon water jugs are oxygen permeable. Should be okay for short term, but I wouldn't suggest using it for aging.

If you look, you can find #1 bottles for decent prices. I find 4 gallon carboy style, #1, "no return" water jugs <$5 at Walmart and other places. They're not great, they are handy and it's hard to beat the price per gallon of storage.

Search feature.....

But to sum it up, they are all fine with the exception of MAYBE #7, but you will get 1,000 different opinions on it so decide for yourself.
