A recent eBay purchase ended up being a 40A 3 prong cord (not the 30A advertised). Before I get the seller to refund their mistake I wanted to know: can you shave down the odd prong on the 40A plug to make it fit in a 30A 3 prong outlet?

The cord was cheap (if wrong) so if I can make it work with what I have, I probably will.

you can. If it was cheap do it. Check the other prongs will fit as well before doing it, Are they slanted or straight? I assume slanted if 3-prong.
