So yesterday i received my Giga Yeast Vermont IPA strain and was a little disappointed that the packaging date read April 25th. With that said Gigayeast website states yeast higher that 17P or is 3months old requires a starter. I am planning on brewing a NEIPA with a SG of 1.065 (16P) with this old yeast. So my question is - how big of a starter should I use? is 1L sufficient or should I go bigger? Note I am using a stir plate and plan to start my starter today or tomorrow for my brewday on Monday the 5th. I am only starting it this early is I want to cold crash for a few days as I decant my starters before pitching.
