I'm having trouble getting down to pitch temp and am thinking of adding a submersible pump and ice bath setup to get my wort down to my desired pitch temp.

I know I won't be achieving a 1560 flow rate because that's at 0 feet, but most of the posts I have seen with a pump similar to this... http://amzn.com/B000X07GMW ...have been used with a 1/2" x 50' IC.

I guess what I'm wondering is it is possible to damage the pump by restricting the flow too much?

I use a MUCH weaker pond pump, recirculating chilled water from a Coleman cooler, and it works well. I keep it at the same level, and pump around 6 feet horizontally.
