I've read in other forums that some people think these two strains are the same strain. Why, then, are their stats so different? Apparent attenuation, flocculation, optimum temp, are all different according to Wyeast and White Labs websites.
You are probably all sick of hearing about these yeasts, but in my two years of homebrewing, I have never used an American-style ale yeast like these (my wife and I are more partial to the English, German and Belgian-style ales), and I plan on breaking my streak soon.
Does anybody KNOW that these strains are the same/different? To anybody with experience with these two strains, which one do you prefer and why? Has anybody had experiences with some of Wyeast's or White Labs' other American/Cali/Chico-style yeasts? Just trying to get an idea of how these yeasts preform and what to expect. I will probably end up trying a few different ones. Thoughts?
