1 gal batches - multiple from 1 vial?

I am a 1 gallon brewer. I use White Labs vials. Using Mr Malty, my pitching rate is .4-.6 vials per batch, dependent on OG.

Here is the question: Can I create a starter that would be appropriate for a 5 gallon batch, then divide that starter up between 4 or 5 containers and just pitch 1 of those containers in each 1 gallon batch?

I know OG will come into play, but most of my beers are in the 1.050-1.060 range.
