I currently do not have the set up to do a 5 gal boil. I am planning on getting a 5 gal pot to do a 3-4 gal boil.

I see recipes call for 1 tsp for 5 gal boil. Do I just half that for a 2 to 2.5 gal boil or does it really matter?

Just use it in the correct ratio.

I have always used 1 tsp when doing condensed boils. I always figured the amount of Irish Moss was based on the amount of malt not the overall volume of the boil.

Yeah me too. All the partial-boil kits I've done all instructed 1tsp with 15 mins left. I've been happy with the results. Using too much won't hurt anything although if I could reduce my usage by 50% and still get the same results....

I've never used it before but have heard wonderful things.

DO i add it 15 min into boil or with 15 minutes left in boil? I've heard both.

Add at the last 15 minutes of boil.

I've seen a bunch of recipes with the moss going into the boil but my friend was telling me he actually puts some in his fermenter. Anyone ever do that?

I switched to whirfloc, and just chuck a tablet in with 10-15 minutes left in the boil. The particle size with Irish moss varies a lot, and I don't like the idea of passing the larger bits through my plate chiller.

More accurately, I don't like the idea of them not making their way OUT of my plate chiller!
