I accidentally added my aroma hops as the bittering hops, wondering if there is anything I can do to save this beer, or what it will do? I brewing a 1 gallon tripel from the Brooklyn Brew Shop book. This is my first time using saaz hops.

Recipe:
2.8 lbs Belgian Pilsner malt
.08 lbs caramel 10 malt

.3 oz East Kent Goldings hops @ 60 minutes
.1 oz saaz hops @ 5 minutes left
.25 lbs clear candi sugar after boil

.5 packet Belgian ale yeast

I accidentally added the saaz first at 60 minutes. Should I add some of the EKG too? 49minutes left to boil as I write this. Any help appreciated!

Thank you! Should I boil 60 minutes from EKG addition, or just continue the time from when originally started? I'll add more saaz at end.

I wouldn't boil it longer. You will still have some bittering from the EKG, just won't have as much aroma as the Saaz would have given you.

I have done this before too. I normally just go into beersmith and recalculate the amount needed to get the same IBU.

Thanks everyone. In hindsight, I should have reduced the EKG a bit. I didn't originally put this recipe into brewing software since it was straight out of a book. Looks like it will be about 5 IBU higher than I wanted, but still in the range for a tripel. I will see how it tastes after primary fermentation, maybe I will split it and add something in secondary to half of it if hops are too prominent.
