I recently brewed a 5gal batch of a chocolate porter. In the secondary i had roasted cocoa nibs and fresh vanilla beans for 2 weeks. But my beer resulted in no chocolate or vanilla aroma. What did i do wrong?

i soak my nibs and fresh vanilla bean in vodka before i add them.

did you use fresh vanilla bean and scrape the inside out?

For vanilla, I've only flavored some rum. Had some cheap white stuff someone brought over. I usually put 8 oz cacao nibs in a beer for at least two weeks.

i used 6oz of roasted cocoa nibs and 3 vanilla beans (sliced, cavier removed) for 7 days. I did not soak either in vodka prior to adding to secondary. It had a nice aroma in the carboy.
