- Crisp and just enough hops, perfect spring beer.
Ingredients:
6lbs Super Light LME
1lb Wheat DME (55%/45%)
1lb Dextrose
1lb Carapils
1.5oz Centennial @ 60 mins
1oz Cascade @ 15 mins
.5oz Cascade @ 5 mins
Fermentis US-05 yeast
*1 Whirlfloc tablet @ 15 mins
Here's how I did it:
1.) Brought 2 qts water to 160F and added 1lb carapils in steeping sock for 30 mins, it hovered around 155F for the duration.
2.) Filled kettle up to 2 gallons and added 6lbs (2qts) Super Light LME and dextrose just prior to boil.
3.) Brought to a boil and added 1.5oz Centennial hops.
4.) 20 mins left I added 1lb Wheat DME
5.) Added 1 tablet whirlfloc and 1oz Cascade @ 15 mins left
6.)Added .5oz Cascade at 5 mins
7.) Cooled to 68F, transfered to carboy, shook vigorously for about 5 mins, and pitched the yeast.
8.) 21 days in primary, then bottled with 5oz dextrose.
OG 1.061
FG 1.012
ABV ~ 6.4%
This beer is easy to make, and it is an awesome beer for the upcoming spring. Its light in color with a gorgeous creamy white head, a pleasure to look at, it is just hoppy enough to add some flavor to a traditional Blonde but not overbearing, and has just enough ABV for those cooler spring nights. Let me know what you think and ENJOY!
