I have used the advanced search function to try to find an answer to my question and I have not been successful. So here is my issue:

I use an aluminum turkey fryer pot as my hlt. Recently, I have noticed that there are these white chalky spots on my pot. I rub them away but they reappear the next day. Does anyone know what this is?

I plan on soaking the pot with a 1 cup of white vinegar/1 gallon of water ratio and then oxidizing it again.

Does anyone have other suggestions?

It sounds like calcium deposits. You might try Bar Keepers Friend, PBW.

Vinegar sounds like a good plan; starsan or another acid would work well; I don't think I would recommend the PBW. Good luck and happy brewing!

I used to get the same kinda of white spots. The viniger will remove them, but they come back. Only way I have found not to get them is filtered water.
