Carmelized wort??

ok, just took my first gravity reading of a Hef I did a few weeks ago. I've made this same basic recipe a dozen times and they've turned out very similar, but this one turned out really dark, almost a dunkleweizen color, and tastes almost like lightly burnt carmel just a tad. still quite good, just very different... I DO use LME but i've always used it for my hefs and I did a late addition (25 minutes left of the boil) and OFF the flame, but I just wanted to make sure that this was what carmelized wort was.
