hey, i am brand spanking new at this!
Opened my first home brew and much to my surprise there was very little carbonation.
One reason i am guessing could be that i stored in basement, might be to cool,
other then that moving to a slightly warmer place is there any thing that i could do to save this batch???

To be sure; might want to post the size of the batch and how you carbonated. Just in case you miscalculated. Did you use regular sugar? Corn sugar? Tablets? How much? Did you try to put it individually into each bottle or mix the beer into the priming solution all at once etc.

But assuming you got that part right, the cool temperatures definitely would be the culprit here. Move to warmer place, wait a week, try it out.

also, how long has it been in bottles? 3 weeks is the recommended minimum

Standard bottle carbonation will be 3 weeks at 70 Deg F, it will get there if you warm it up as others have mentioned

do carbonation temperatures need to be as closely watched and regulated as fermentation temperatures?

i see lots of fermentation temp discussions but haven't seen much about carbonation aside from keeping it out of light

after primary fermentation is complete, its less important. however, its still not good to stress the yeast with wild temperature swings

Thanks for all the advise, i made a 5 gallon batch, i mixed 2/3 cup table sugar and 1 quart water and made into syrup. I poured without splashing the priming solution into the bottling bucket. Bottled, stored in basement, waited 10 days. As i am reading advise, i am realizing that the basement is way to cool and i think 10 day maybe to short a time??

Exactly. Mine sit in the house (mid 60s) and are carbed at about 1 week, but they only really come into their own and start tasting good after 3 weeks. Be patient.
