I brewed my second batch of beer last night and had too much of a boil off and ended up with about 4 gallons of wort. I added a gallon of water but forgot to take a second reading. The reading at 4 gallons was 1.072. Is there any way to estimate the OG?
 
((4 gallons * 1.072) + (1 gallon * 1.000)) / 5 gallons = about 1.058


or put another way:

80% of your wort = 1.072 ... 20% of your wort = 1.000
0.8 * 1.072
+
0.2 * 1.000
= about 1.058
