Should fermenting cider be kept in the dark as much as possible?

I have it currently in the pantry which is pitch dark with the door closed, but it's taking up needed space for actual pantry items. I don't have anywhere else that is both dark and warm - the basement is dark, but cooler - the other spaces I have available are warm, but not pitch dark. Would it be enough to keep it out of direct sunlight? Thanks.

If you can't keep it in the dark, keep it out of direct sunlight and throw a sweatshirt, towel, or sheet over it.

No Hops no worries.
But, at the same time, keep it out of direct sunlight. It just can't be good for temperature control or the yeast. (Never saw any with a good tan so I don't think they like the sun.)
