I recently tasted a sour porter at a local brewery and loved it! I'm not usually into dark beers and I've never done a sour so I'm really at a loss for where to start. Any ideas?

Also, I'd like to add cherries towards the end, I've read to add them around the last three months. Does that sound about right?

It's hard to help without more info. Are you doing extract or all-grain? How are you planning on souring?

Fruit would be added at the end, after fermentation is complete. Use tart cherries rather than sweet cherries. Sweet cherries really don't have much flavor, mostly just sugar...so when the sugar ferments out, you're not left with much. I'd also recommend reading this book (https://www.amazon.com/American-Sou...ref_=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl&tag=themadferm-20) and check out Milk the Funk.
