My next batch is going to be a simple ESB. I am thinking about fermenting it over a few handfuls of dates, any thoughts or suggestions?

This is just my opinion, but a well brewed ESB with proper English yeast (1968 )gives a pretty fruity character alone. Don't put fruit in an ESB. But your beer your rules, good luck.

In my experience, dates don't really add much flavour, at least 2lbs in 6 gallons doesn't. They'll add sugar & up your ABV though.
Regards, GF.

I just had 21st Amendments special edition Allies win the War which gave me the desire to use dates. I will try to create a recipe around that.

LOL When I first read this I was wondering what the heck is he talking about. Adding yeast at different "dates" during the ferment. LOL Then reading the 2nd post it all came to me. :mug: No comment about adding "dates". :O)
