I used C-Brite as my sanitizer for my first batch and im thinking i didnt rinse well enough as there are quite a few suds in my carboy. Anybody have any insight on this?

Looks like the layer of krausen formed by the yeasties fermenting. That'll happen with all your beers, just some more than others and it's perfectly fine. I'd be worried if it WASN'T there. Depending on how much C-Brite you used (IIRC it can be mixed in a no-rinse dilution anyway) if you didn't rinse it properly you might taste some chlorine later. But that has nothing to do with the layer of foam on top.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. I'm switching to either star san or an iodine sanatizer for my next batch. Probably star san.

Looks like a nice, vigorous fermentation.
RDWHAHB! It's makin' beer!

Cheers!

Looks perfect! Don't Worry Relax Have A Home Brew! Before switching to Starsan I used bleach solution as my all around cleaner & sanitizer (which can be harder to rinse fully than C-brite in heavy concentrations). Even with heavy bleach solution a good hot water rinse produced hundreds of gallons of good beer. I do still use bleach on clean out days, again with no problems. Just make sure bleach is completely rinsed before adding starsan, the combination of these 2 will release a toxic gas.

The little suds are co2 bubbles that are given off from the yeast you can think of it as a mini kkrausen. It's normal Have inspected that befor and they do look like soap bubbles it also has that gassy shine to it. Your good to go no problem there

Wish I could, but this is my first batch! :mug:

Though now that i think of it, i could go see what they have on tap at my LHBS store...

When you make your next batch you'll wonder why you evcer worried as much as you are now.

Looks like everything is normal... :)

You'll like the Star-san better too... get it, use it, love it.

Star san is the shiz! I love the foam, I mentioned in another thread a while ago that the foam is like a bubble bath for my brew. It's the awesomer
