i just ordered the stuff from Brewmasterswarehouse. i am going to shoot for a very hoppy aroma/flavor apa. i do 2 gallon batches. 70% eff and the cascades is 5.4AA according to the site.

4#6oz 2-row
8oz crystal 10
4oz crystal 40
.75oz cascade FWH
.25oz " " 60min
.25oz " " 30min
.25oz " " 10min
.5oz " " dry hop
estimated OG 1.060 FG 1.015 IBU 41 and i was thinking about mashing @ 153F
if anyone thinks i should mash at a lower temp feel free to tell me.

Too much crystal!

You have about 15% crystal malt, and would lower that. I usually use about a pound (total) in a 5 gallon batch.

My IBU estimate doesn't match yours at all. I get 59 IBUs with that recipe, with an OG of 1.065.

That looks like too much bittering hops (FWH, 60, 30) and not nearly enough late addition hops (only 10 minutes and dryhopping). I'd change that up, and not use all the hops for bittering.

I'd probably do this:

4#6oz 2-row
4oz crystal 10
4oz crystal 40

.75oz cascade FWH

.5 oz 10min
.5oz 5 min
.5 oz 0 min
1.00 oz dry hop

IBUs 44 IBU/SG ratio .715
