So I stepped up a 1L starter to two 1.5 L starters. I don't have a container big enough to hold a 3L starter, plus I'm pitching into two 6.5 gallon carboys for a ten gallon batch.

Both starters frothed/krausened over the top of the containers a bit. Some yeast dripped down the sides. I wiped it off and replaced the foil a few times until it finally calmed down. I'm assuming I'm most likely okay from contamination as there was positive pressure pushing the krausen OUT (seriously, could've used a blow off tube!). Yet another lesson learned - a 1.5 L starter will blow out of a 2 L e flask or a 2 L growler. Now that I type it, it seems obvious but both vessels don't look but maybe half full.

Anyway, anyone disagree with my assessment? The starters still smell wonderful.
