So, I bottled a Tripel the other night. Prior to bottling I prepared a corn syrup solution using the tastybrew calculator. I made a mistake of not entering in the fermentation temp to determine residual CO2 levels. Unfortunately, this mistake causes the calculator to assume that that number is zero. The result was me using 8.2 oz of corn sugar to prime 5 gallons. After recalculating I realized that I only needed 2.4 oz.

So, are these going to blow up? Should I just remove them from the bottles and throw them in a keg?

I made the mistake primarily because I never bottle. The amount of sugar seemed high, but I have yet to use corn sugar so I didn't immediately question it.

Re-do the calculation and find out how many volumes that amount of sugar is likely to yield. If it is over 4 then you have a problem.
