My neighbor has a motor that came out of an ice flaker machine. This thing has serious gear reduction and good torque. I measured the rpms and now I'm wondering if it is too slow; 12 rpms. Anyone think that's too slow to be useful in a keggle that I use as a mashtun? He has a second motor that I haven't checked yet but if it works I might be able to get him to sell it if anyone is interested.

12 rpm's is still more stirring than not having anything. It's slow enough to not get things too agitated. I guess your blade design for your stirrer will come more into play with a slow motor like that.
