Walk in, not a 10 ton group buy. ;)

I just want to see how my local compares. I get 50 lbs of Briess 2 row uncrushed for $49. (well, a few cents less than that but not $48)

I get a great deal at a local place where you order online and then pickup at their little warehouse style shop http://brewbrothers.biz/

Organic 2-Row
IN STOCK
$37.50

Premium 2-Row
IN STOCK
$33.00

NW Pale Ale
IN STOCK
$33.00

Superior Pilsen
(This comes in a 55 lb bag!)
IN STOCK
$37.50

$55 at my lhbs (25 minutes away)
$33 at brewbrothers.biz (1.5 hours away and near family)

You can imagine where I get my base malt...\

*edit: Nope - brewbrothers.biz isn't getting popular... two posts with them referenced in the same minute...

Between 39 (cargill pale or esb) and 45 (briess pils)

Great western is somewhat close, I'd like to check that out sometime.

I drive 15 miles to Wind River. It is priced at $39.95 a sack and then I get a 10% discount as I am a member of a local brew club.

$60 for 50lb briess 2-row!

that's the reason i do 100% of my brew shopping online.

$60 for 50 lbs, 1 hr. drive. I buy online w/ shipping for less plus more selection....

$38.99 from LHBS, but I don't know the tax. I'm sure it comes out to 42ish.

$45 for a 50lb bag, $49 after tax, which works out to about the same as online suppliers after shipping. They do have a nice grain mill for customer use though.

$27.83 for 2 row in Chicago ( I have to drive there a lot so it isn't an issue).

We actually got the following for $167 and change on the last trip

2x 55lb bags of pilsen
2x 55lb bags of 2 row
1x 55lb bag of Marris otter
1x 55lb bag of Munich

110 pound bag of Pils malt for around $60, but I haven't purchased that stuff yet. We'll see. It's Ireks. Bummer is they package in 50 kg (110 pounds) bags and those are heavy as hell. Bought one of those bags somewhere else recently and it's just too much weight for one bag of grain.

where in chicago exactly?

Mid country malt supply, it is on the south-side. You have to call their new york number all they have in Chicago is a distribution facility. Every time we called, the prices changed but we were never quoted more then $30 a bag for 2 row. You can look on their site for general pricing but remember, that is not what you will pay some will be more some will be less. They also sell hops, at what price I do not know.

Damn that's a big sack.

I mean... um...

How ya carry such a big sack around?

Back to kindergarten I go

$49 for Briess at one LHBS, everything else is priced better at Brewmasters Warehouse.

$60 for 50lb. sack at AHS. Never bought one there.

$40 for same sack at a suppy store 70 miles away in San Antonio. Never bought one there either.

$27 at last bulk buy.....Bought plenty there.

My LHBS sells 55lb sacks of 2-row for $33 (after 10% AHA discount). They lower the cost at various bulk numbers and it gets down to .65 per pound once you hit 50lbs. I just wish they did that for other grains.

$26 for local two-row or $41 for imported (Bairds) Marris Otter. $27 for the locally malted English-style pale malt. All 55 lb bags from the local maltser direct.

Which LHBS is that? My wife going down to San Diego in early January; maybe she can visit the place.

where would i begin looking to try to find a local bulk place or how would i find someone to get it direct besides my local LHBS which charges 55

It's $52 + tax at the LHBS here in Raleigh, but I am fortunate enough that one of the local brewers is willing to add a couple of extra bags to an order and sell it to me for $45 total.

$50 for a 23pound (50kg) bag.
Its the first time Ive been gratefull to SABMiller.

50 kg is 110lbs and 23lbs is 10.5kg. If it's the former, you're getting a great price. If it's the latter, that's not so good.
