Just wondering if biscuit would be a suitable sub for crystal in a pale ale?
I was thinking 10 lbs 2 row and 1lb biscuit for a simple grain bill.
Any thoughts?

It's nothing like crystal. You can use it. 10% or so add a noticeable amount of flavor.

A pale ale dosen't have to have crystal malts but I like them them better with some.

I used it at 5% in a brown and its clearly noticeable. Crystal and caramel malts are relatively interchangeable, so try for one of those.

But no harm in using biscuit, give it a try. It certainly won't make a bad beer.

I just made one using .75 buiscuit malt. It was too much for me, gave it too much of a mild roast flavor. It deff is nice to add but I personally won't add over .50 lbs again.

Glad I found this post. I was planning on brewing an ipa with biscuit and sticking to a hop schedule close to dogfishhead's 60 min. I was thinking 13 lbs 2-row and .75 Belgian biscuit malt. You think too much biscuit?
