Gulf Shores October vacation

Planning Stages:

Me, (newly divorced) my 4,7,and 10 yr old kids.

we love gulf shores during the summer. What is different in the fall? Water temps a little colder, but still swimmable it seems. Less tourists probably.

Any info or input greatly appreciated!

cheezy - here's some input you should look at regarding the GOM:

my sister-in-law lives in Alabama east of Mobile on Mobile bay, she knows from an extremely reputable source not to eat any seafood from the gulf. I miss the shrimp myself, I won't eat anything from the GOM any more. She also knows that the local seafood restaurants there are getting money from BP to not advertise or even mention at all that their seafood is not from local waters (a lot of moeny or so I'm told).

You might want to read the article below before letting your family into the water, unless it's a pool at the hotel.
