Best method to seal heat stick

What have you guys found as the best long term method to seal/pot the heat stick so it doesn't leak? I used JB weld on the outside of the screw on connection and it failed after one yr.
 
I saw one of these in action this past weekend at my new homebrew club, he used RTV and poured it down the inside of the pipe. I'm very intrigued by these... and being able to brew all electric in the basement some day.
 
that sounds like a good method. Did you still connect the ground wire to the chrome drain pipe.

Yes, I wedged it between the nut & the pipe. I think a better method would be to strip the outer jacket long & run the ground wire to the top of the pipe; secure with terminal, small bolt & lock nut.
