Best method to seal heat stick

I saw one of these in action this past weekend at my new homebrew club, he used RTV and poured it down the inside of the pipe. I'm very intrigued by these... and being able to brew all electric in the basement some day.

I connected the cord to the element, wrapped some tape around the outside of the base of the element. This allowed me to pour J-B Weld over the terminals without getting it all over the place. (see this-> https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/heatstick-awesome-142803/index28.html#post1839989) After it fully cured I used plumbers putty to seal the nut, element, & pipe. Has worked for 2 years no leak.

I've used it for a couple years now and no problems. I'm not particularly easy on it either.
If you read through the thread i think someone else had a good/better idea on how to connect the ground wire.

Yes, I wedged it between the nut & the pipe. I think a better method would be to strip the outer jacket long & run the ground wire to the top of the pipe; secure with terminal, small bolt & lock nut.
