I am about to plunge into kegging and plan to order a kit tomorrow or Friday (black Friday sales), but have a couple questions.

1. I plan to upgrade my kit with stainless perlicks. However, the I can't upgrade the shanks online at keg connection. Is there any problem pairing ss faucets with non-ss shanks? I am guessing no big deal.

2. I plan to mount the taps on a fridge door, but haven't got the fridge yet. To be safe, how long should the shanks be?

Thanks

No problem, it's done all the time, you just can't run wine/mead/cider they are acidic and will etch and flake off the chrome. You can get the chrome plated Perlick's cheaper if your going this route. I bought all of my kegging used the shanks were only 2 1/8 long but all stainless paid $4.85 a piece bought all 12 so had to build a 12 tap kezzer. Most doors are about 2 1/2 thick I would go with 4- 4 1/2 inch ones.
