I made a starter a few days ahead of time and bablam... did it work. It started within a few hours and extreeeeemey strong. I am proud to announce that I am the proud father of a new bubbling batch of Hefeweizen. Looking for Hefe cigars.
 
haha. nice. I just made my first starter last week too for my weekend brew day, and experienced the same thing. The shortest lag and biggest krausen I've had. Congrats on your baby hefe!
