Is it water proof? Can I put it in a vial of gel-type freezer pack stuff? (I have lots of it from AHS). That might even out it's on-off cycling without having to tape it to the fermenters with insulation like I'm doing now. (that doesn't do me right if I tape it to something too warm, etc.)

All I did w/ my temp probe was wrap it in a couple of paper towels and then wraped a zip lock bag around that and taped it w/ packing tape. I think just simply insulating the probe helps to even out the temp swings during cycling. I have the delta set on the ranco for 5 degrees plus minus, but I doubt the kegs of beer vary by more than a degree or two??

Thanks! That's exactly what I want to do. (I bet I even saw that when you posted it and it got lodged in the swiss-cheese brain)
