how about for kegging and serving cask ale? new wooden or plastic keystones and shives are available from uk brewing.

before you cut it up you might want to put it up on ebay or craigslist, real british casks aren't cheap and somebody in your area might pay good money for it..
 
the first metal kegs were aluminum, the only reason they changed to stainless was because aluminum doesn't hold up... it dents and cracks too easily under rough use.

for years there have been rumours that aluminum causes alzheimers and other diseases, this has been proven to be false but some people stick to old ideas, like car batteries placed directly on concrete will discharge quickly... another myth.
