Hey guys, I made my first cider using cider from a local orchard combined with a preservative free apple juice and 4 tightly packed cups of brown sugar. I pitched rehydrated nottingham yeast and let it bubble away. I went to taste it for curiosity's sake about a week later for kicks and noticed it tastes almost exactly like cough syrup. I know it takes time to mature, but has anyone else ever encountered this nasty taste?

those medicinal cough syrup tastes are usually phenols. they can result from infections or yeast stress, if your yeast was healthy and sanitation was right, i'd be inclined to think they would age out

I'm almost certain that sanitation was good. I added some yeast nutrient when I pitched as well...time will tell I guess!
