Smoked Beer second try

Its my second try at a smoked beer. My first one is under my hopville profile as XSB. The munich is acutally alder smoked munich from rebelbrewer.com and the smoked malt is cherrywood smoke. The yeast is the yeast cake from my summit IPA (called Trebuchet IPA on hopville). Thanks

I really like the malt billl but I think you've got too many IBUs. In my limited experience, the bitterness gets in the way of the smoke flavor. I think I would shoot for a BU:GU ration closer to .5 or so at the max. I'd also probably cut back on the aroma additions, although I don't have any personal expeience with that, just a hunch. If I had those malts I'd really want that smoke aroma to come through and all of that Wilmette would probably obstruct it.

Just tried the smoked helles I did 3 weeks back. I had a few issues and ended up adding .5 saaz at KO. The aroma is clearly off because of it, I'd kill the aroma hops entirely.

I made BM's Smoked porter and upped the smokedmalt to like 50-55%. it was great!!
