hi all,

just curious...how worried should i be about the light? any light...florescent, those new age save the earth...the old kill the earth...i just made a starter and i need to put a lamp with it to keep it warm enough but i am concerned about the light.

TIA,

M

It's not the yeast or the wort that is light sensitve...it is hops. Isomerized alpha acids in beer react with sunlight to skunk beer....not starters, and even if you put a hop pellet in there, and the wort got skunked, you'll be decanting it anyway and just pitching the yeast.

Most of us leave our starters out in broad daylight/light and they are fine.
